About Fairlop
Fairlop is located in the north of Ilford within the London Borough Of Redbridge. Due to being slightly outside London, there is a range of forestry, fields and open-spaced land for sport and other activities.
This includes Redbridge Sports Centre which has outstanding facilities for tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis and racketlon. There is also a range of lakes which are perfect for watersports and fishing.
Fairlop is close to the Barkingside High Street Shopping district in the western part of Ilford. This is near Claybury Park, an area that used to contain Claybury Hospital.
Historically, Fairlop got its name from an old oak tree that was based in Hainault Forest and had a trunk with a sixty-foot circumference.
